Wes Martin has spent more than 25 years as a producer, songwriter, mixing and mastering engineer, and educator—helping artists and audio professionals develop better ears.
Second Ears
You’ve been working on the mix. You know it better than anyone—and that can make it hard to hear it objectively. Send it to me. I’ll listen carefully and talk you through what I’m hearing, what’s working, and what I might try next.
Experience listening to your music with fresh ears. I’ll help you sort out what’s working, what may be distracting from the song, and what I’d leave alone.
It isn’t mastering, and it isn’t an automated mix review. The point is not to hand you a score. It’s to give you perspective before you call the mix finished.
Tools can measure a mix. AI can process one. Sometimes what you really need is someone to listen and say, “Here’s what I’m hearing.”
A WAV or AIFF of the mix. The song name. The artist. A YouTube link for the reference you want me to hear. Notes if you want them—the upload form asks for Mastering or Second Ears so you do not need a separate email.
A screen recording of me listening to your track. What I hear happening and what to do on this song.
$150. One mix.
For a mix note, a call is the wrong shape. I need to hear the song before either of us says anything about it, and a scheduled call puts us both on a clock before that has happened.
You send it when you are ready. I come back when the listen is done.

Michael Henry Martin's studioAbilene, Texas
I grew up in Michael Henry Martin's analog recording studio in Abilene, Texas—learning on a console before I ever saw a plugin. He recorded and engineered there for years; that breakroom and control room are where Breakroom Audio started. I have recorded, mixed, mastered, written songs, and played guitar professionally.
For more than a decade I taught music production, aural training, and songcrafting. I was Director of Education over a Recording Arts program at an accredited career college, and I am now the Managing Director of that institution.
The book is how I wrote this down.

Second Ears is me in the room with your mix.
Already know what you want? Mastering.
